Description
This mountain houses a complex work of architecture and engineering; and, the technique used to build it, still surprises engineers today. Because of its location, on the top of the mountain, it represents an enormous engineering challenge. When Mr. Hiram Bingham, a USA explorer, discovered Machu Picchu ruins on 1911, investigations started and archaeological excavations were performed. The tombs found in the citadel were explored and hundreds of carvings, clothing, ceramics and more were found. It is known that the construction of the city of Machu Picchu was completed in 50 years and the Inca Empire lasted only 100 years from which they built a lavish city that meant a portent of engineering and testimony of culture.
