Sacred Valley is important for being one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. We’ll visit PISAC Archaeological Center, composed of platforms, impressive agricultural terraces all over the place, aqueducts, and domestic structures. The Town of Pisac is famous for its crafts and traditional market. We’ll also visit OLLANTAYTAMBO ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE, considered a Fortress and an important strategic military center used to control the whole of Inca’s Sacred Valley. You will also see an amazing rock formation representing the Inca God Wiracocha. Another interesting place we will visit is the town of CHINCHERO and its colonial church. It is one of the oldest Roman Catholic churches in Peru and was built over the ruins of the palace of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui. Although it doesn’t look impressive from the outside, its interior is highly decorated with gilded Baroque altars and sculptures, walls covered with murals, its wooden ceiling is also painted and interesting frescoes on the front gate.
Part of this Full Day is the visit to the Archaeological Site of MORAY, famous for its circular Terraces, used as an agricultural experimental center where Incas will study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems.
MARAS is a small village, famous for its Salt Mines with about 3,000 small wells where salt is extracted after drying. Today it is known worldwide for its great taste and nutritional value. This element has been exploited since Inca times.
